A traditional old English pub dating back to 1834 and maybe earlier is situated approximately 1½ miles north of Houghton-le-Spring in the heart of Newbottle village.

 Opening times as follows:  Monday 4pm to 11pm.  Tuesday through Saturday 11am to 11pm, Sunday 12 noon to 10.30pm.

 Lunches are served Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon - 2pm and evening meals are available Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm - 9.30pm.

 The Sun offers entertainment on a Saturday evening in the form of live music bands or Karaoke.

 A pub quiz is held on a Sunday night  and  again on a  Wednesday night.

 

Accommodation:  Three en-suite bedrooms will be available from the Spring of 2002.

Travelling between

Houghton-le-Spring and Shiney Row on the A182, the Sun is just after the  traffic lights in Newbottle village.

    Travelling between

 Sunderland and Durham on the A690 turn right at Stoneygate (Reg Vardys)
