About us
I was born and bred in New Herrington, a son and grandson of a miner. My family before settling in New Herrington in 1870, they had lived in Monkwearmouth, West Cornforth and all were mining settlements in the county of Durham.
Andrew Fletcher provides the indexes, which he has build up over a number of years.
The site was constructed and produced in March 2002. The main aim was to provide a site where local history could be researched, and we also provide lists of pubs and restaurants, where you can stay when you visit the area.
