Inspectors Report
The closing of a neighbouring private school, as caused over crowding here. the teaching staff is very weak it is there not satisfactory that the results of the examination are not satisfactory. the first standard as done very badly and much of the work of the second is of inferior quality. Ready in through out, wanting in fluency and expression . and the standard of intelligence is very poor. handwriting is careless, composition poor, speech poor. And arithmetic severally weak. I cannot speak favourably of the class subjects. The grade at the lower rate both for English and geography being commencing with considerable hesitation . The sewing done at the examination was somewhat unsure in character, but the credible work of the elder girls, unable to recommend the maximum, grant mental arithmetic has not been taught successfully. The copy book writing of the young children is credible and enlargement of the premises is in contempt and I trust the staff will be mentally strong, no merit mark can be recommended my Lords will look for greater improvement next year.
