Travelling from the A690 - Durham to Sunderland -after passing over the A19 turn left at the "Board Inn" roundabout travel along the B1286 towards New Herrington continue for 1 mile till the church yard is on your right, turn next right and continue bearing right at the traffic island the Stackyard can be seen now.

An English country pub dating back to the middle of the nineteenth century is situated approximately 4½ miles south-west from Sunderland and 2½ miles north of Houghton-le-Spring. Open Monday - Saturday 11am to 11pm. Sunday 12 noon to 10.30pm. A warm and friendly atmosphere with a good range of beers and lagers, a selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks are available, served by helpful staff. Please mention this site when ordering
Lunches are served Monday - Saturday 12 noon to 2pm, Sunday 12 noon to 3pm. Last orders for food taken 15 minutes from the end of service. Good, wholesome food at reasonable prices.
